Bio

I am best known for my work in cult electro-femme duo B(if)tek who were releasing cutting edge electronic grooves locally and internationally for 8 years (1996-2003). B(if)tek have been described as ‘Australia’s greatest electronic music innovators’. As part of B(if)tek, I toured with the Beastie Boys, recorded with legendary Twin Peaks chanteuse Julie Cruise, played sell out shows at the Sydney Opera House, and twice been nominated for ARIAs, Australia’s most prestigious music awards.

In addition to my own creative projects, I also undertake commissions for film, theatre and television. These have included:

  • With Byron Scullin, provided rearrangement and remixes of promotional music for the worldwide movie phenomenon The Secret (2007)
  • Developed and performed in Time Machine, a ‘space rock’ show for the Sydney Opera House (March 2006)
  • With Byron Scullin, co-wrote the music for Lonely Planet’s ‘6 Degrees’ TV series (2003), which has been shown world-wide on cable and free to air. The soundtrack album to the series was released in 2004
  • Undertaken commissions for the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (2003)
  • Scored the music for Vulcana Women’s Circus ‘Cravings’ (2002)
  • Produced the festival centrepiece sound performance for the Next Wave Festival’s aerial dance spectacular ‘Colony’ (Melbourne, 2002)
  • Provided the live soundtrack to Akira Isogawa’s spring fashion show in Paris (2001)
  • Provided the entire soundtrack for Brisbane youth angst movie City Loop (1999: Red Movies), and provided atmos and computerised voices for The Bank (2001: Arena Films)
  • Tracks by B(if)tek have been licensed to Hollywood teen flicks (Drive Me Crazy) and in local TV series (Headstart) and have often been used as incidental music for TV shows and trailers
  • Tracks by my solo electronic project Artificial have also been used in Australian documentaries and licensed to many different compilations.
  • From 2000 – 2003, B(if)tek developed, promoted and hosted their own annual awards for electronic arts, the WINK awards.

For the last three years, I have worked on establishing a new band Dust. Dust are a Melbourne based 5 piece whose music has been described by local radio as “dazzling psychedelic pagan gospel”. Dust’s debut album 'Songs' was released in August 2007 and has been hailed by various reviewers as ”intoxicating” “astonishing”, “marvellous”, “ a new genre”.

I have given guest lectures on electronic music and independent music production for a number of institutions and events including Liquid Architecture, Victorian College of the Arts 'Center for Ideas', and Victoria University (Multimedia course).

I am currently writing an album of sacred music using electronics, voice and strings, scheduled for release in early 2008.
